These starters have 4 brushes instead of the 2 brush factory atv starters . Also has a roller bearing for the armature where the factory has a bushing . If installing in a big gearbox machine , you will have to separate the engine and gearbox about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch to get this starter in as it is slightly larger than stock (just to get installed) . If it is a small gearbox machine then it will go right in.
These are 12v starters meant to keep from having to do 24v start.
